Mazarine Blue passed away peacefully at Kirtlington Stud this morning and will be sadly missed. The daughter of Bellypha out of Maiden Pool was owned and bred by Mrs Mary Taylor and was trained by Micheal Jarvis. She was a high speed 5f winner at 3 before retiring to stud where she went on to produce seven winners from eight runners. Her progeny included the prolific miler, Listed winner and Gr.2 placed PUTRA PEKAN (Grand Lodge), the high-class Gr.2 winner SAPPHIRE RING (Marju) and the smart Listed winner BLUE ECHO (Kyllachy). She is now aimed for the 1000 Guineas. Blue Maiden is out of our own mare Bluebelle and was unsold for 6,000gns at the 2008 October Part 3 Sale. She was then sold privately to Charlie McBride with Chris Budgett retaining a share. Bluebelle was uncovered in 2009 and visits Medicean again this season. |

Hazel was announced runner up at the Godolphin Stud & Stable Awards ceremony held at the Jumeirah Hotel in London yesterday. As we said before it was a very strong compettion and Hazel was one of the youngest in her category, it was a huge acheivement to have reached the final. Hazel thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and brought home some nice prizes for herself and the team at Kirtlington.
